Lithium Battery Life Improved

Lithium battery life improved performance is important for listening to digital music with your headphones & music players.  This blog post explains how to keep your lithium battery charged to peak performance so you can enjoy your digital music longer.

3 Steps to Charge a Lithium-Ion Battery to Peak Performance

1. Charge the battery to a full charge first with a charger that is at least 2.4Amps or 5 Volts.

For all portable audio devices, we don't use a charger less than 2.4 Amp/5v. You need the high amp rating in order to charge it properly.  Most music players, daps & phones require a full charge to operate best with a lithium-ion battery.

2. Let the battery run down until is it is completely empty. This improves and optimizes your battery life long term.  You are training your battery to be fully charged or to be completely empty (this improves performance).

3. Find out the biggest drains on your battery life.

Plug in the music player or DAP, go to settings and select Battery. The battery menu will show where the biggest use of the battery was.  It does not show exactly what the problem is but it tells a general area of where to find the issue.

Onkyo DP-X1 Music Player

For example, the Onkyo DP-X1 is basically an Android phone minus the phone. There are all kinds of Apps and or processes that can be running in the background that can cause the DP-X1 to draw power from the battery.

We've had a preloaded song that came with the Tidal Hi-Res App slow down our battery life in the past.  We figured this out as we noticed the song never downloaded completely so the system kept trying to download the song every time the Onkyo DP-X1 was turned on.  Therefore, this download action was using most of the battery power. Erasing the song solved the problem and something like this could have been impossible to find. However, it affected the battery life and looking at the battery menu, gave us a clue where to look for the culprit.

Therefore, always look for quirks like this that apps do in the background without the user's knowledge, they often can affect battery life and frustrate the music lover too.
